Press-on nails are an excellent option for achieving a salon-quality manicure at home. They're quick, easy to apply, available in a variety of styles, and they're way gentler than acrylic or gel nails —all while being eco-friendly cause you can rock them again and again.
Here's the most comprehensive guide on how to apply them.
Step 1: Size your Nails
Begin by sizing your nails. Find the press-on size that matches each finger. Arrange them in order so you can apply them immediately after prepping your nails. This way, you won't risk messing up your nails while rummaging through the kit to find your sizes.
Step 2: Push back cuticle
Make sure your nails are trimmed before this step. Use the cuticle stick to push back the cuticle. This step creates space for the adhesive to sit properly on your nail bed.
Step 3: Buff nails
Then, take the nail file and gently buff the surface of your nail. A rough surface ensures a better grip for the adhesive.
Step 4: Clean nails
This step is arguably the most important in nail preparation. Grab that alcohol wipe and get rid of all the oily, creamy, leftover stuff on your nails. This way, the adhesive sticks like a charm on your nails, making your mani last longer. So, don't skip it!
Step 5: Apply adhesive
Each nail kit comes with sticky tabs and a glue tube. Choose your adhesive and apply it to your nail.
Sticky tabs (5-7 days)
Find the size of your sticky tab that matches your nail, and stick it onto your nails
Glue (2-3 weeks)
Apply a dollop of the glue in the centre of the nail and spread it thinly around the nail
Step 6: Presse!
Apply the press-on nails at a 45-degree angle to avoid air bubbles, and hold each one for 30 seconds. Continue this process until all of your press-ons are applied.
Be sure to avoid contact with water the first hour after application to make your mani last longer!
Believe it or not, that’s all it takes to get an instant mani glow-up! All this in just 10 mins! Try it for yourself here.
